Fishing Update

The bass were pretty picky during May and parts of June. Shad are now being seen on the surface late in the day. Jimmy Pickle and Mike Barnes put in a full day last Thursday. Hitting the Lake before daylight, they had only 5 fish by noon. After a lunch break they went back out and boated 2 until taking another break about 4pm. Heading back out about 6pm they finally got hot, landing 17 more before lighting made them get off the water. They were mainly caught on Carolina rigged worms and Wing Dings.

Late afternoon and deeper seems to be the best bet now.

Russell Young sent in these pictures of some of the bass they caught back at the 1st of May. Sorry it took me so long to get them up.

I did get a report from Albert of a good fishing day a week or so ago for he and Ms. Debbie. Hoping they will send me some pictures.

I need a crappie report if any one has one.

I haven't been able to get down personally to fish. Sorry for the shortage of reports.

Be sure and check out the new official Lake Cavalier website here.......

Fish Fry Tonight

All Lake Cavalier members are invited to the annual Fish Fry tonight. The fish being served was taken out of the Lake when it was shocked recently.

Please try to come out if you can.

Here are some pictures of the shocking and fish cleaning.

Lake Shocking

Southeastern Pond shocked the Lake last Friday morning and had quite a haul. They were able to take out 642 pounds of bass that were under 17 inches.

A crew then headed over to Albert Siak's and cleaned a good many of them. A few people took some and cleaned on their own. Thanks to everyone for helping out. I thought we had a real good turnout to watch and help.

The fish will be used for the Lake wide fish fry in April.

I'll put up the report from SPM when we get it.

Fishing Report and A Reminder

Jimmy Pickle went out the last two afternoon's and had good days each day. The fish were back up shallow both days.

Also the Lake will be shocked this Friday morning. Come out if you can and see what they shock up. Also, if you can, please stick around and help clean the fish that are kept.

These fish are used for the fish fry put on by the Fishing Association. All Lake residents will be invited.

Fishing Report

Jimmy Pickle and his friend John Burkes went out earlier this week and had a good day.

Compared to the day Jimmy and Glen had a few days before it might have seemed slow, but the pattern changed somewhat. The fish had moved deeper, so they changed over to the deep diving crankbaits and caught 26 bass. The average was very good.

Here is John with a couple of "average" 3-4 pound fish..........

Here is Jimmy with the big fish of the day......................

Jimmy went back the next day and had a harder go of it, catching only 10 on a fairly calm, bright, blue sky day. Those are usually very difficult conditions out at the Lake.

But overall the fishing has been great lately.

Now, if only I could get down there to try it myself.

Big Day Fishing At The Lake

Jimmy & Glen headed back yesterday to try the bass again.

They started a little after lunch and by 6 pm had landed 72 bass!

72 bass in around 6 hours. That truly is a big day.

1st Fishing Report of 2011

Jimmy and Glen made it down to the lake Wednesday and had a good day. They caught 27 bass that afternoon.

They had the most luck up very shallow in a pre- spawn pattern. They caught one showing signs of sweeping a bed for spawning.

Water temps are up and with the weather this week should rise even more.

Jimmy said out of the 27 caught only 2 were under 17 inches.

Most were in the 4-5 pound range like the two 5 pounders shown here...............

It's Been Awhile

Since I have posted and since I've even been down to the Lake.

The dam work was completed and the water level is up some. I stopped by one day last week and the water is up about a foot in our boathouse.

Hope to be down soon and get back to fishing.

I will also get back to blogging on here. With the water being down it has been impossible for me to get my boat out and fish. As soom as I can, the reports will be back up.
